It can be argued that 2024 was the year of Taylor Swift.
As if she wasn’t already a popular music sensation, her Eras Tour will go down as one of the most prolific stretches for any musician ever.
Swift’s 2023-2024 eras tour featured 149 shows and netted the star an eye-popping $2 billion in ticket sales, along with millions more in merchandise, making it the highest-grossing tour in music history.
Swift was born in 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania, before moving to Nashville at age 14 to pursue a career as a country music singer. After finding early success, she transitioned to pop music and an elevation in status as one of this generation’s greatest performers.
All totaled, Swift has sold more than 50 million albums, including seven albums that saw an excess of $1 million in sales within their first weeks alone. She’s claimed 14 Grammy awards (including four for Best Album) and was even the first artist to be named as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.
The singer / songwriter shook up the music industry in 2021 after re-recording her first six albums in order to reclaim the rights to her work. The result culminated what would become the Era Tour.
Consider the Pop Culture Hall of Fame among the legions of Swifties and for that, Taylor Swift is our 2024 inductee for Musicians.
